Musicians of the NY Philharmonic

Patrick Jee

cello

Cellist Patrick Jee joined the New York Philharmonic in July 2013. He has toured extensively in the United States, Europe, and Asia, making appearances at New York’s Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., London’s Wigmore Hall, Paris’ Salle Gaveau, and the Seoul Arts Center. He also performed on CNN’s American Morning as well as at the United Nations for the commemoration of the 50-year anniversary of the Korean War armistice.

After several visits as a performing artist, this season marks his first year as Artistic Director of the Hudson Valley Performing Arts Foundation’s Chamber Music Series. One of the things he enjoys most is to play music intended for other instruments. He has transcribed several pieces that have published by the International Music Company. His arrangement of the Bach Chaconne was premiered by himself along with adored NY Philharmonic cellists, Alexei Gonzales, Sumire Kudo, Nathan Vickery, and Ru-Pei Yeh. Every November 17th, he celebrates his audition anniversary with Alexei and Nathan, the date they all entered the Philharmonic together. This year will mark their 12th anniversary.

Aside from music, Patrick is an amateur woodworker and aspiring bow maker. In addition, he and his son, Kento, are die-hard NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills fans.
