Sumire Kudo

Sumire joined the Philharmonic in June 2006. She studied at Toho School in Tokyo and The Juilliard School in New York. She began her solo career after winning the Japan music competition as the youngest applicant at age 15. Her musical interests are baroque to modern, solo to orchestra. Her mentor, former 1st violinist of Tokyo Quartet, K.Harada was her inspiration to come to New York. She has enjoyed being a chamber musician before joining the NYP, especially in string quartet. Her life long goal is to play the entire Haydn and Beethoven quartets.
