Tanner West

Tanner West joined the New York Philharmonic in May 2023. Before joining, he spent two seasons as acting fourth horn of the North Carolina Symphony. Tanner has performed with a number of orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Charlotte Symphony. Tanner received his Performance Studies Certificate from the Colburn Conservatory of Music where he studied with Andrew Bain and received his bachelor’s of music from the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he studied with Abigail Pack. Outside of playing the horn Tanner enjoys drinking Chinese tea, spending time with his two cats Theo and Ash, running, and playing golf. He is looking forward to an exciting season with the New York Philharmonic and is particularly excited about performing An Alpine Symphony in February!
